1. A GOOD HANDICAPPER-HAWAIIN SUNRISE had raced in Bangalore and after winning a maiden’s race in Feb 2006 she went on to win in class III , a 1200 m race at 58 Kgs with C Alford. She was put up to class II but could not win thereafter and thereafter from summer season of 2006 to winters of 2009 she was off form and came down the scales to Class IV. In feb 2009 at Bangalore she won a nail biting finish at odds of 5 to 1 and thereafter with the same jockey won again at Mysore as a firm favorite in same class. The last win was at 58.5 Kgs in class III at good odds . Now it appears that she has reached the same level as in 2006. Hence it may not be in her capabilities to win again but then who knows?

2. A GOOD DOUBLE-LATIN TWISTER is raced in a race for class V for 5 year old and over at 48.5 Kgs under an allowance jockey G Vijay and races 6th at a distance 20 lengths adrift of the winner in 1 min 42. 36 secs recorded for the winner.11 days later she wins in the same category at 50 Kgs in nearly the same timings to hand over a very lucrative double for the canny owner cum trainer who had a good thing winning in MISSIZIPPY and scored a long odds double-literally making a KILL.

3. BREEDING COMMANDS RESPECT-MESSALINA is a very classically bred filly being the 2nd foal, first one being PALLAZIO’S SON who has performed reasonably well ( statistics have proved that the second foal is normally the best) to the famous race horse PALLAZZIO who had won both the sprinter’s cup as well as the super mile trophy on two consecutive days. The filly belongs to the good stables of classic producing trainer who also bets heavily on his fancies. The filly was set to race in a very moderate field with the second string and a very mediocre sire JUNIPER’S filly BRUNETTA being backed down to half money in the odds. The rates of MESSALINA shot up from 5 to 2 to 7 to 1 thereby indicating that the connections were not even putting a token owner’s bet. The filly showed her class by finishing on from a very bad last position to go away from the field by lengths in the final stages.

4. RIDDEN TO LOOSE-THE PEARL had run a close and credible 3rd , just ½ length adrift of ASTRAL FLASH in Juvenile Fillies Championship in Mumbai at level weights over 1600m. Now at Bangalore in the Juvenile’s million ASTRAL FLASH ran on in a fighting finish to go down by ¾ lengths to the classy D’ARTAGNAN, who was rated at 59 by the handicapper. A race later THE PEARL is taking on maidens over a distance of 1400m and on comparison with the recently loosing ASTRAL FLASH looks too good in the set up. The odds of 80 to 100 ON were considered fair enough but soon the trend in the ring changes and the odds ease upto 5 to 4 ON. As expected the horse runs a very irritating 4th, 7and ½ length adrift of the winner and even behind 26 rated NATOUCHKA. This is a clear case of the horse not being permitted to run true.

5. A BOLT FROM THE BLUE- BILLY BLACKJACK at very lucrative odds just wakes up to pulverize the field , it was apparently not bet upon by the connections even as the rates were there for the asking.
6. A GOOD GAMBLE-FIERY BUSSINESS at 48 Kgs failed as a favorite over 1600m running 10th on 09 May. On 20 the May it carries 46 Kgs and finishes 10th over 1200m . A week later with a well planned jockey switch and at the middle distance of 1400m , carrying 50 Kgs it is quietly bet at odds of 10 to one and lands a lucrative win for the connections
